Embark 2026 Get Down Top 10
Jun 15, 2026
What if we told you there was one tiny little thing that you could do right now that will dramatically change your dog photography images forever. This thing that you can change is quick. It's easy. It doesn't require you to spend a single dollar and it will have an immediate impact on how your images look?!
Get down lower!
The Get Down challenge is not set to try and get our students down in the mud and dirt, it is because getting a low perspective on the animals you are photographing makes a huge difference in how the image feels. It is you, looking at the world, through a dog's eyes and it gives an image impact.
This is the second of the 12 Embark challenges, and once again we had a great set of submissions. Here are our top images from this challenge. Well done to the photographers.

We provide video feedback on all images submitted for the challenge, and from there, we select our Top 20 and Top 10. Without further ado, here are the Top 10 images for this challenge!

Caryn Glover | Katiepal Photography
A sweet moment, great use of negative space and a super low shooting angle, camera right down on the ground.

Cynthia Hall | Snug Pet Sitting
The light gives this low-angle capture a crisp fresh feeling. This little dog fits perfectly under the tulips which provide a sense of scale.

Dana Gookin-Owens | Studio D Portrait Design, LLC ~ Boutique Pet Photography
A fantastic moment of peak action captured at a low angle that draws you right in. Colour harmony and light work well together to create some drama.

Gabi Vannini | GV Photography
The tight crop and low angle give this fantastic moment of play a little tension which is captivating.

Katie Pierce | @katiebatie13
Captured from such a low angle, this moment of play makes the viewer feel part of the action.

Michelle Osborne | The Spotted Tongue Photography
What a sweet moment for this little pup. Well shot, with great timing.

Natalie Clennell
This is such an immersive image, thanks to the low angle the image was captured at, combined with the wide focal length.

Samantha Smillie
A soft and textural image which uses depth really effectively. The low angle draws the viewer in, the complementary colours help focus attention on the subject.

Sandy Allen | @ybr_labs
We're right down in the ground with this dog! The expression is really engaging and the subtle green frame in the background bring the composition together nicely.

Sara Waldon | Love 'em Furever Photography
The green makes this moment feel fresh and lively, and we can clearly see the low angle this was captured.
