Embark 2025 Up Ups Top 10

One technique that works wonders for dogs who tend to wander around is putting them up on something.

In natural areas, fallen logs make great platforms for encouraging them to stay in one place while elevating the dog also has many other benefits.

What's more, elevating them is a great alternative to getting down low. We call this style of shot Up Ups, which makes total sense right?!

So for the Up Ups challenge, we are asking to see images with the dog elevated, it doesn't matter what, as long as they are up on something. We had some gorgeous and super creative images submitted by our challengers this time and here, in no particular order are our top 10. Congratulations everyone!

We provide video feedback on all images submitted for the challenge, and from there, we select our Top 20 and Top 10. Without further ado, here are the Top 10 images for this challenge!

Ave Paasuke | Coastal Tails

This is exquisitely crafted. The warmth in the top of the trees and sky mirrored in the shape of the trunk and sand across it. The posing is excellent, having the smaller dog fully Up-Up and the larger with just their front paws elevated is dynamic but brings their faces nice and close together and helps showcase individuality and their relationship.

This is another unique take on. the brief, a working dog Up-Ups on a sheep, and it's serious business! The tonality adds mood to the image and the little sheep peeking through on the bottom right is a lovely element that adds a little bit 'extra' to the frame.

What a fabulous colour scheme in this portrait. The location is fascinating and the light is gorgeous. The Up-Ups pose and expression of the dog just draw you in and hold your attention.

Danny Dohrmann

We've never seen a concept like this in Up-Ups, or any of the other challenges before. It's quirky and humorous. We especially love the little bit of drool as if this good dog has reached their goal weight and is already salivating at the thought of a cheat day!

Erica Harvey | Erica Lane Photography

There is some fantastic layering of colour and texture in this image, with the red brick bookending the composition. The dog seems to be welcoming the viewer into their home with great joy!

Kelly Munce | Heart Dogs

This is a dynamic image that really benefits from the dog's unusual pose. The stylisation works to bring even more texture in the sky. It's weird and different and we really enjoy it!

Liz Atkinson | Pawprints on the Peninsula - Pet Photography

This image is simply crafted, beautifully posed, has a great expression and nails the brief. What's not to enjoy in this engaging portrait?

Lyn Nye | Lyn Nye Pet Photography

This image has a wonderful serenity about it. The dog is excellently on the rock, isolated within the nearby foliage, hints of wind in their fur. Then you get this lovely vignette into the landscape. The edit is clean and the white fur bright, but full or detail and texture.

Shelly Linehan | Paws for a moment photography

This Up-Ups pose is so striking and the texture and tones throughout this image are wonderful. The low angle gives the dog prestige and presence.

Toni Provencher | Point and Shoot Photography LLC

This dog is so floofy you can't help but get drawn in by that texture and cute expression. The leading lines of the wall guide your eye through the composition and the simple colour palette work beautifully.
