Embark 2025 Get Down Top 10
Jun 12, 2025
What if we told you there was one tiny little thing that you could do right now that will dramatically change your dog photography images forever. This thing that you can change is quick. It's easy. It doesn't require you to spend a single dollar and it will have an immediate impact on how your images look?!
Get down lower!
The Get Down challenge is not set to try and get our students down in the mud and dirt, it is because getting a low perspective on the animals you are photographing makes a huge difference in how the image feels. It is you, looking at the world, through a dog's eyes and it gives an image impact.
This is the second of the 12 Embark challenges, and once again we had a great set of submissions. Here are our top images from this challenge. Well done to the photographers.

We provide video feedback on all images submitted for the challenge, and from there, we select our Top 20 and Top 10. Without further ado, here are the Top 10 images for this challenge!
Cherie Weir | CWC Photography
Lovely low shooting angle, great expression, excellent use of leading lines and the editing treatment works really well in this image.
Erica Harvey |Erica Lane Photography
There's a lot of subtlety in the image. The pose of the dog softly echoing the background rock formation, the delicate lighting used on the subject and the slightly mat and soft colour palette. Combined with the low angle make this a wonderfully engaging image.
Jodi Towne | Jodi Towne Outdoor Images LLC
That line is a fantastic way to draw your eye up through the image and into the dog. You couldn't get lower to the ground and it has left a wafer thin plane of focus so all eyes stay on that beautiful dog.
Jordyn Bobo | Golden Atlas Photography
What a super low angle! The posing and expression are both delightful and really engaging. It really feels like you're in this dogs world.
Leticia | Leticia Pascual Fotografia
What a classic pose for this kind of dog, the collie hunch! The colour palette is beautiful, the wooden slats are a great leading line and seeing a little sense of the location really lifts this image.
Liz Atkinson | Peninsula Pet Photography
What a fun location, a great composition and low shooting angle which makes this really fit this challenge brief.
Marquee Maylum | Marquee Photography & Design
Lovely posing and expression, a fantastic low angle and the spotlight and vignette really draw us to the dog.
Pam Ericksen | Blue Iris Studios
This is a classic and timeless portriat of this older dog. Really low shooting angle, wonderfully lit and with a gorgeous pose and expression.
Roxanne Gura | The Whimsical Leash
This is a really simple low angle portrait that has been executed brilliantly. The posing and expression, muted tones and super low angle make this a great success.
Tobi Smith
This is a really beautifully crafted and composed portrait. Super low angle, the different types of foliage and flowers add interest but don't distract.
